Year 2 Shine as Creative and Resilient Learners This Term
This term, the Year 2 children have been thriving as young artists and learners, embracing every challenge with enthusiasm and creativity. In Art, they explored a wide range of new skills and techniques. They experimented with colour mixing to discover how different tones and shades can be created, and they practised drawing in the bold, dynamic style of Roy Lichtenstein. The children also had the exciting opportunity to try screen printing, using this technique to produce vibrant artwork inspired by Andy Warhol. Alongside this, they have been delving into the world of Pop Art - discussing its features, exploring famous works, and thinking carefully about what makes an object or symbol “iconically British.” This has helped them begin to choose meaningful subjects for their own Pop Art projects, drawing on both their creativity and their understanding of the world around them.
Across the curriculum, the children continued to show remarkable resilience, confidence and pride in their learning. In English, they worked hard to plan, draft and refine their own narrative stories. Their finished pieces showcased not only their developing writing skills but also their imagination and determination. In Maths, the class persevered through the challenge of adding and subtracting twoâdigit numbers. They applied strategies, checked their work carefully and showed real commitment to improving their accuracy and understanding.
Overall, Year 2 has demonstrated what can be achieved when creativity meets resilience. Their hard work this term has been truly impressive, and they should feel incredibly proud of all they have accomplished.
