Stories, Skills and Springtime Learning in Year 1!
This week in Year 1, Jeffers and Bright Class have been working hard to plan and write their own stories based on the book Martha Maps It Out. They have been trying hard to include capital letters, full stops and using ‘and’ to extend their sentences.
In Maths, the children have been learning about doubling and halving. We have some super mathematicians in Year 1!
In PE, this term’s topic is striking and fielding. The children have been practising underarm and overarm throwing. In PSHE, we have been learning about things that we can do to keep healthy. We have discussed toiletries which are safe and unsafe for children and they have been reminding Jigsaw Jack about different ways that he can keep himself fit and healthy.
In Wider Curriculum, we have been learning all about plants. We looked at the differences between flowering and non-flowering plants. We had a go at sorting photos depending on which category we think they belong to. We also looked at the different parts of a flowering plant and labelled them. Finally, we had a go at drawing our own plants and flowers in the style of Beatrix Potter and Vincent Van Gogh.
Jeffers Class have also been very busy practising for the class assembly at the end of term. We hope you can attend!
