Outdoor Learning in Early Years at Pine Ridge

Over the last week, Nursery and Holly Class at Pine Ridge have been making the most of the warm Spring weather with some outdoor learning.  We are very priviledged to have such beautiful outside spaces at both Pine Ridge and Lorraine Infant Schools.

At Pine Ridge,  the children and staff have been working very hard making improvements to our Early Years garden and last week, put these plans in to full swing with flower beds being defined and weeded ready for planting.  The children began by planting herbs including Oregano, Mint and Swiss Chard.  Carrots were next, along with some grasses and Sweet Peas.  The children had lots of enjoyment during the process and cannot wait to see the end results.  We are sure you'll agree that it is going to look stunning.

The children have also been watching with interest as the Robins nesting in the climbing equipment have been raising their babies.  The fledglings took their first trip outside and we managed to capture some pictures!

At Pine Ridge, we are very lucky to have a wonderful outside area which includes the forest and there are plans to introduce Forest School to the children very soon!  Watch this space!
