Nursery

At Pine Ridge and Lorraine Nurseries, we encourage children to follow their own interests and ideas and we base our learning on In the Moment Planning.  This means that we take and apply the relevant learning from The Early Years Foundation Stage to whatever the children are doing and ensure that their next steps are identified and in most cases are instantly followed.

This way of working ensures that children are given a tailored experience that is unique to their own interests and abilities, rather than the same activity for all the children.  The early years teachers and practitioners are qualified and experienced in using the Early Years Foundation Stage, and are able to skilfully recognise learning in all of the relevant areas and develop each child as an individual.

We particularly focus on the Characteristics of Effective Learning, which concentrate on developing the children’s life skills.  These include their independence, creativity, resilience, perseverance and willingness to “have a go” at life.
